Following the successes of previous STSS (2012, Okayama, JP; 2015, Kyoto, JP), ISOFIC (2002, Seoul, KR; 2005, Tongyeong, KR; 2008, Harbin, CN; 2011, Daejeon, KR; 2014, Jeju, KR; 2017, Gyeongju, KR), and ISSNP (2007, Tsuruga, JP; 2008 and 2010, Harbin, CN; 2011, Daejeon, KR; 2013 Beijin, CN; 2014 Jeju, KR; 2015, Kyoto, JP; 2016 Chengdu, CN; 2018 Harbin, CN), the joint international conference of STSS/ISOFiC/ISSNP 2021 will be held during November 15-17, 2021 at Okayama Convention Center in Okayama, Japan. STSS/ISOFiC/ISSNP 2021 is organized to promote academic exchanges of the topics of mainly human computer interaction (HCI), human machine interface (HMI) technologies, instrumentation and control, and symbiosis of technology in symbiotic systems and nuclear industries. The scopes of each symposium are as follows:

STSS Technical Scopes

  • Human interface, human factors, universal design, ambient interface, human modeling, virtual reality, user experience
  • Assistive technology, support technology for aged person
  • Social factors, socio-technical systems, risk communication
  • Safety engineering, functional modeling, and resilience engineering for engineering and social systems
  • ISOFIC Technical Scopes

  • Sensors, instrumentation and control, testing, maintenance modernization of I&C, simulation for nuclear power systems
  • Robotics & automatic remote technologies, future I&C technologies, system reliability and risk, safety critical software, surveillance, diagnostics & prognostics, cyber security, and safety culture for nuclear power systems
  • Human-machine interfaces, operator support terms, human factors engineering, human reliability, human performance, control room design, and cognitive systems engineering for nuclear power systems
  • ISSNP Technical Scopes

  • Safety and risk studies from social security, environmental and economic aspects
  • Integrated aspects of nuclear energy (i.e., multipurpose utilization, plant life maintenance, nuclear fuel cycle, decommission, waste disposal, comparative study to other energy sectors, etc.)
  • Advanced modeling and computation methods for nuclear application (i.e., multi-scale computation, systemic approach, data analytics, deep AI, remote handling and robotics, etc.)
  • Other general nuclear engineering disciplines (i.e., reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, reactor core and plant behaviors, nuclear fuel behaviors, radiation chemistry, etc.)
